Amanda Hall was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2011 during the Ms. Wheelchair Texas Foundation’s annual pageant competition on April 9, 2011. Mrs. Melynn Gresak-Gray of El Paso was named first runner-up of the competition. Hall said, “Being named Ms. Wheelchair Texas is the most incredible opportunity of my life, and I feel blessed to hold this title. I am thrilled to serve the disabled population of our great state, and I look forward to what this year has to offer.”
The evening program included the crowning of Celeste Juarez as Little Miss Wheelchair Texas and the announcement of Angela Wrigglesworth, Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2004, as the recipient of the 2011 Advocacy Angel Award. “Receiving the Advocacy Angel Award was truly one of the most touching moments of my life,” said Wrigglesworth. “To be considered a Texan who has made a significant difference in the community is a great honor and challenge to continue working to improve the lives of people with disabilities”
The Board of the Ms. Wheelchair Texas Foundation will prepare Hall to compete in the Ms. Wheelchair America competition the week of August 1-7, 2011 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. If Hall is secures the national crown, Gresak-Gray will assume the responsibilities of Ms. Wheelchair Texas.
Eight accomplished contestants from across the state competed to earn the Ms. Wheelchair Texas crown including Mrs. Amanda Hall and Mrs. Gresak-Gray. The other contestants were: Pamela Bullock, Spring; Corina Caballero, San Antonio; Haley Cornelius, San Marcus; Angela Irick, Houston; Jessica Jobe, Graham; and Tina Williams, Houston.
