Amanda Hall Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2011

Amanda-Hall.jpgAmanda Hall was raised in small-town Texas, with wonderful community and family support. She is a graduate of Tarleton State University, with a Bachelors of Science in Communications and Public Relations, and minors in Psychology and English. She furthered her education by becoming a certified teacher, as well as a certified Deaf Education Transcriptionist and Educational Aide. She now works as a Deaf Education Interpreter. Amanda is on the Board of Directors for Camp Craig Allen, a non-profit dedicated to building a barrier-free camp facility for physically disabled adults and children of North Texas. She is Camp Craig Allen’s Marketing Director, and greatly looks forward to the day when she sees this camp’s mission realized. She loves her work with this non-profit and dedicates much of her time to raising awareness for the physically disabled, and awareness for the importance of Camp Craig Allen to the disabled community of North Texas. Amanda is married to a marine, and because of this, is a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She adores working with children, especially those with physical limitations. Amanda now lives with her husband and two puppies in Stephenville Texas, and looks forward to further serving the disabled community through Ms. Wheelchair Texas.

On April 9, 2011, she competed in the Ms. Wheelchair Texas pageant after being prompted by other contestants and won the crown with a platform centering on employment issues faced by people with disabilities. As Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2011, Amanda will travel around the state raising awareness of disability issues and will go on to the national competition in Grand Rapids, MI in August.
